Five Windows 7 Tips and Tricks

Windows 7 is the latest Windows operating system which has many additional improvements and functions than any other previous Windows operating system. But for some users it may not be enough!

That is because I have choose the top 5 Windows 7 tips, tricks and apps which you can apply on your operating system, extending it’s functionality, productivity, speed or simply the look of your Windows 7 interface.

1. Problem Steps Recorder

This is a new tool in this new operating system. It is an advanced tool that can easily record whatever you do on your computer or an application. This can help your friends to solve the problems easily with images and text.

To run Problem Steps Recorder simply type “psr” (without quotes) in Win7 start bar and press enter.

Problem Steps Recorder output this created file in the .mht extension (archived and compressed in ZIP archive) which you can open directly with Internet Explorer 7 and see how it looks.

2. Create and Mount Virtual Drives

Microsoft Virtual PC for the virtual system creates virtual drives which you can access through Windows 7 just like they are physical discs. Windows 7 now can mound VHD files created with Virtual PC environment.

To set this up, you would need to go to the Start orb, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. When that window opens, go to Action > Attach VHD and choose your VHD virtual drive file. From now, your virtual drive would be available through Explorer.

In the same window, it is possible to create your own VHD file. This can be a very useful if you are going to backup your hard drive.

3. System Repair Disc

Luckily, Windows 7 has included the new tool which allow you to create your own system repair discs.  This way, you may restore and fix the eventual problems when it comes to that. It is always wise to have a system disc somewhere near.

To open it go to Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Create a System Repair Disc

Of course, you would need to have one empty CD to create one system repair disc.

4. Tweak your Windows 7 Taskbar
