What Do I Like in Safari

Safari is a web browser, developed by Apple. Firstly it was a Mac-only browser, but now it’s available for the most popular operating system – Windows. In this article, I’ll try to describe you what do I like about this web browser from Apple.

I’ve used Safari 4.0 (beta) version on Windows operating system – exactly in Windows 7, new operating system from Microsoft. I have to say that it works great, even under Windows operating system. Supporting few interesting, unique and nice looking features and options. Provided with very good rendering engine and very fast speed.

In the new 4.0 version of this browser, there’re over 150 features. I will list below the most interesting and useful features I like personally.

RSS Management

The first thing I like about this browser is the RSS management. Like any other modern web browser, Safari can automatically detect RSS feeds from any page. Of course, supports subscription option.

You have a complete set of the options to customize selected RSS feed for your needs. All available using real-time technology. I think this is the best way to handle a RSS feeds for one web browser.

Top Sites

This is the feature, specially presented in the latest Safari web browser version. If you like Opera’s speed-dial, you will like this feature too. Displays small, dynamic thumbnails for the sites you visit often – regarding to your browsing history. By default, this option is visible when you open new blank tab on Safari.

Tabs on the Title Bar

Another very useful and nice-looking feature is that tabs are displayed on the title bar. Something similar to Google Chrome web browser for Windows operating system. For me, this is just one more functional and modern feature. But if you are not used to this, you might spend some time to get used.

Cover Flow View

This is an unique feature that other web browsers doesn’t support – at least by default. Mac users are used to this view, displaying previews of album arts in iTunes or file previews. This new function is available under bookmark view, where you’re able to flip through your browsing history in nice and stylish way – using Cover Flow style.

Better Fonts in Safari

Safari has changed default font rendering. Compared to other web browsers under Windows operating system. Actually, you have option to choose font smoothing settings under Appearance tab in preferences. This way you can get  Mac-like fonts on your Windows operating system.

Conclusions

Safari 4.0 is still in beta stage. And that means that there’re many possible crushes and stability issues and problems. I think that Safari is still not ready for the “everyday’s” use – at least on your Windows operating system. After some time, it may causes few crushes.

Anyway, Safari is still very quality potential alternative for all other browsers. With very fast rendering engine, fast load and many useful features in the future it may become very important application for internet.
