Microsoft has released a new office suite – version 2010, or more precisely 14.0.4536.1000 before couple of days for Windows users. You can download a whole office suite and use it till October 2010 completely for free to see how it works in the practice.
I have to say it is one of the most improved versions so far. Every application is improved in this new professional office suite. Office 2010 comes in 64-bit version too, all previous versions does not have a full support for the 64-bit systems! This means office would run faster, more stable and be more powerful than ever before!
Microsoft Office 2010 looks a slightly different according to last Office 2007 version. It is a pretty much an updated and more refined – as you can see on the screenshots below for every application in this new office suite.
All versions can be downloaded in three editions: Home and Business, Professional Plus and Professional. You can download your office suite right now, and get a trial serial number which expires in October 2010 right there.
Microsoft Word 2010
Microsoft Word is probably the most popular application on the planet when it comes to the writing on the computer. Anyone who use a computer on a regular basis have used this application a lot.
First thing I have notice in this new office suite is a new navigation panel located in the right side of the screen. Gives you a live preview of the document you are writing. A similar function is presented in the new Adobe Reader application. I really like this function in Word for sure.
Microsoft Word 2010
Following a trends, Microsoft Word now fully support a co-authoring function, where you can work on the same documents with others in the same time! This is a very useful addition to the new Word, which gives you a better functionality, productivity and collaboration.
There are so many other additional things included in this new version like a many new visual effects to your text, complex diagrams support, more image visuals and much much more. You won’t be unsatisfied with Office 2010 version I am sure.
Microsoft Excel 2010
Microsoft Excel 2010 has also a many useful improvements in this suite. Now it is a more modern, stylish and gives you a lot of useful tools and additional tricks.
I specially like a new feature with which you can create small charts in a single cell to quickly discover patterns in your data. This can be a very useful improvement for every user of this popular application. Now your Excel sheets can look more professional.
Microsoft Excel 2010

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
This application, like any other in the new office suite is improved and updated. Now you can create a more professional presentations and discover a whole new functionality – the internet support!
From the first start, you would know that this application is a more stable and functional than before. You would be able to see many new transitions and animations included. Somehow it works and looks much better and faster!
Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
Another thing I specially like is that now PowerPoint 2010 allows you to insert and edit video files directly in PowerPoint 2010! You can also set the video to fade in and out at specified intervals and apply a variety of video styles and effects—such as reflections, bevels, and 3D rotation – to help you quickly capture your audience’s attention. A very useful improvement!
PowerPoint 2010 now allows you to broadcast your presentations by sending out a URL so people can view your presentation on the internet. Best of all – your audience sees your slides in high fidelity, even if they don’t have PowerPoint installed! Cool!
I have to note that this version of PowerPoint works much better with multiple monitors. A new PowerPoint 2010 gives you a completely separate window for each presentation that you open.
Microsoft Access 2010
If you did not know, Microsoft has excluded this application in the 2007 version re-design. Also, it was an only application in 2007 suite which was less improved compared to the older version. But they have fix this in 2010 suite! Access 2010 looks more powerful right now!
Since it is the application which has changed almost completely than the previous version, it includes a much more improvements than any other application (compared to the other Office 2007 suite applications).
Microsoft Access 2010
Access 2010 reports now support data bars, enabling you and your audience to more easily track trends and gain insight. Also, Access now fully supports themes like other applications in this suite. A very useful improvement for those who work with this application.

There are some other applications in the suite, which I have decide not to review. I have write this post only for the most popular applications in the suite.
Other applications, some of them are new are:

- SharePoint Workspace new – Synchronize SharePoint Server 2010 document libraries with this tool so you can access, view and edit files anytime and anywhere from your computer.
- Communicator new – Simultaneously experience multiple modes of communication, including instant messaging, video conferencing, telephony, application sharing, and file transfer.
I have to note that all applications in the new Office 2010 suite keeps following the modern trends. Including all modern interfaces into one package. All applications now fully support web services and most of them has a collaboration and a sharing support.
