Backup and Restore your Drivers for Free and Easily!

Today, a Windows installation is too simple and intuitive. But, we all know that we have to install drivers for devices attached and included in our computer after the installation. That can be a demanding job which can take you some time for sure.

Driver Restore and Installation

Driver restoring and installation process is easy as backup. You can do this in three ways and it all depends on output source you choose above.

The first two options would be restored by choosing Restore tab in this application. There you would be able to choose where do you store your backup folder or your own backup archive file. After you done that, click on OK and your drivers would be restored after the process.

Third and the most easy process to restore your drivers is through the self-executed file. This is my favorite way to backup and restore drivers on. All you need to do is to click on this .exe file, created in the backup process and you could restore drivers automatically or manually choose a path where to install all these drivers in.

Let’s say you are an average windows/mac user. If you use a Photoshop user, you might know how much time it takes to load and work on it on your low-end system. The latest Photosop CS4 has some improvements in speed and performances, but it may be a tough work for your computer for sure.

Today, I am going to give you some tips to boost your overall Photoshop speed, making it faster to load and work in it. Note that these tips would not do any miracles on your computer, but they definitely may help you to improve your work with this professional photo editing software from Adobe.

Note: I am using the latest Photoshop CS4. Below screenshots are related to that version. Other versions also should have these options, but I can not guarantee you that.

First thing you should do is to go to the Preferences box in Edit > Preferences – or use a Ctrl+K hotkey:

Performance Settings

From that box, choose Performance tab:

You can setup many important things here, which may affect your overall performances and speed improvements like:

• Memory Usage – Photoshop usually uses a lot of your system RAM memory. The amount of RAM that Photoshop would use is easily adjustable here. Depending how much RAM you have, you should use from 55% to 65% of all available RAM reserved for Photoshop. If you have 4 or more GB’s of RAM, you could set this up to 75% to speed up your Photoshop performances.
• Scratch Disks – Like with RAM, Photoshop uses a Virtual memory of your HDD drives. This information is displayed under Scratch Disks feature in the performance tab. Anyway, if you have more than 1 drive, you can drastically boost your Photoshop speed by enabling others to work with it.
• History & Cache – By default, History States is set to 20 and Cache Levels to 4. For the slower systems, this is just too much to work with. You can set these values to 10-15 for History States and 1-8 for the Cache levels. You should note that all these changes would be effective after you restart your Photoshop.

You should leave GPU Settings on default value to ensure the maximum compatibility between your graphics accelerator and Adobe Photoshop software. Note that this option is available in the latest Photoshop CS4 suite.

Disk defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation in file systems. The defragmenting tool can reduce the time it takes to load programs and open files in your system, as well organize them correctly.

In this post, I’ll show you how to defrag your operating system. Including the default defragmentation tools and options in the different operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS and Linux.

Windows Defragment

Windows file-system is the most complex than with Linux or Mac OS systems. For sure, you’ll get the best effect with defragmentation of the Windows file system. And there are many ways to do that. There, I will include the defragmentation tool integrated with any Windows operating system – Disk Defragmenter.

It’s important to note that Disk Defragmenter tool is a very effective tool under Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 systems because it includes the advanced defragmentation techniques.

There’re many ways to open and start this tool under Windows operating system. Probably the fastest way is to run the special command under Run tool (in Windows XP), or by typing defrag or disk defragmenter in the Windows Vista or Windows 7 start menu.

When you open this application, you can schedule an automatic defragmentation, analyze your disks for defrag and defragment your system Hard Drives.

Defragging a Mac hard drive is a thing of the past because the way that Mac OS X organize and optimize it’s file-system. After installing system updates or new application on Mac OS X machine, the computer will try to optimize itself. There’re ways to periodically clean up and defrag your Mac OS system but it wont get too much improvements like on Windows file-system for sure.

The best way to speed-up your Mac file-system is to open the Disc Utility program, located in the Utility folder in your Applications list on Mac OS computer. Highlight your hard drive from the list and have the program repair the permissions.

This is an easy way to correct some common computer errors which could be slowing your hard drive down. Another way is to use a specialized Mac OS application called iDefrag which can defrag your hard drives easily and you can try it for free. Linux Defragment

A lot of Linux users ask this question. How to successfully defragment a HDD in the Linux operating system. The answer to this question is a pretty easy – you probably don’t need to defrag your Linux file-system.

The file system under Linux, and other UNIX-based operating systems is organized and stored much more effectively than with Windows operating system. On these systems, fragmentation of the files is usually under 1 percent! But with Windows it comes up to 20 or more percents!
