Main Visual Changes in Windows 7

Well, This is my first post. And I think it’s the time when I should tell you what do I like in new Windows operating system, simply called Windows 7. I’ve installed Windows 7 RC version on my computer, and using it for a while. I’ve used the Windows Vista from RC version, and I can tell you all my experience and noticed differences.

Windows 7 Desktop Look

Windows 7 or Vista 2.0

Windows 7 actually looks like it’s improved Windows Vista. It’s very similar from all system aspects. But it works much faster and better on my computer. Because of that, it just looks like an improved and more stable (upgraded) Windows Vista.

Windows 7 has changed many visual aspects of the system. Improving speed, functionality, stability and overall performance – compared to previous Windows operating system. Let’s say what I like here.

New Functional Taskbar

The new toolbar now looks great! Old taskbar from the beginning finally got redesigned and changed completely. Giving you much better functionality, productivity and use. It’s so easy to get used off it.

I specially like new options for hiding additional (or existing) icons and “show desktop” button at the right:

Improved Aero

Aero is a little changed in Windows 7. But I can tell you for sure that it works much faster than in Win Vista. Also, I’ve seen that it has better and improved Windows handling and focusing.

Also has a new function from which you can easily maximize, group and minimize all windows. All of that works simply great and very fast. I have to agree that this function can be very useful and functional for all users!

Let me say how it works. When you drag a selected window to top of the screen, it will automatically maximize – giving you nice glow effect to present that. Same works if you move it to left or right side of the screen. Also, if you have a multiple windows opened, “shake” one and all “behind” will disappear, “shake” it again and they’ll become visible. See below images for a demonstration.

Theme Improvements

Windows 7 handles a themes better than any other previous Windows version. Actually, it allows you to download and create your own theme easily and fast. Using integrated theme creator. Also, you’ll be able to get more themes Online from Microsoft’s site – nice!

One very good and functional feature is that you can now set multiple wallpapers to change on specific time. Works, looks and feels very good. Really good way to improve Windows functionality.

Default Applications Improvements

Microsoft’s spend some time to finally redesign an interface and improve few default applications that comes with Windows from the first versions till now. Luckily, we can find improved Paint, WordPad, Calculator. I’d like to see more improved and functional Notepad in the next Windows version. This one is the same like before – absolutely non functional and too simple and basic!

Below you can see some screenshots for changed and re-designed default apps.

    Hello
I’m a relatively new Windows user and recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on my laptop.
I do not want to advertise which user accounts are available on my laptop and would prefer the standard Ctl-Alt-Del
    method of logging in.
I tried the various steps of accessing password management, went to the Advanced tab, but the “Require
users to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete” check box is grayed out.
I am the administrator on this lap top, so I am at a loss.
Is this not possible with Home Premium?
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance,

    Ken Reed
